MCHR wants you to help us revitalize Viola Liuzzo Park!

MCHR and Gospel Tabernacle Church are committed to restore and revitalize this Detroit park, located near 8 Mile and Greenfield in NW Detroit, which honors the life and sacrifice of Detroit’s Viola Liuzzo. Mrs. Liuzzo was murdered by the KKK in Lowndes County, Alabama during the Civil Rights Era, while working with the organizers of the march on Selma.

Dean Robb, Esq., civil rights attorney for the Liuzzo Family, will speak at a fundraising event for the park revitalization project on the following date and location:

Tuesday, April 14 at 7 pm

Suggested donation: $5, light refreshments will be served

Detroit activist Kim Redigan recently traveled to the Mexico-U.S. border at Tijuana, where she witnessed the trauma imposed by an immigration system that criminalizes asylum seekers. In her first-hand account, Kim will talk of people fleeing the violence of poverty, civil war and the long history of U.S. intervention.

April 14, 2019, MCHR Annual Dinner at Marygrove College, Keynote Speaker is U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib

Reception: 4 p.m. Dinner: 5 p.m.

The MCHR Annual Dinner will be held April 14, 2018 at Marygrove College in Detroit.

U.S. House Representative Rashida Tlaib will deliver the keynote address.

MCHR will also recognize several individuals and groups for their human rights activism:
