A presentation and panel discussion on the Green New Deal is set for 6:45 p.m., February 19, 2019 at the Huntington Woods Public Library. Library is located at 26415 Scotia Avenue, Huntington Woods, Mich. 48070.

Speakers/panelists:
  • Andy Levin — U.S. Representative and former president of Lean & Green Michigan
  • Frank Hammer — Former chairman & president, UAW Local 909, representing Michigan Coalition for Human Rights
  • Molly Leebove — Representative from the Sunrise Movement, an American youth grassroots organization that advocates political action on climate change in the U.S.

Detroit activist Kim Redigan recently traveled to the Mexico-U.S. border at Tijuana, where she witnessed the trauma imposed by an immigration system that criminalizes asylum seekers. In her first-hand account, Kim will talk of people fleeing the violence of poverty, civil war and the long history of U.S. intervention.

The MCHR Annual Dinner will be held April 14, 2018 at Marygrove College in Detroit.

U.S. House Representative Rashida Tlaib will deliver the keynote address.
