Standing Up For Immigrants And Refugees – Community-Based Responses

MCHR will be a sponsor of “Standing Up for Immigrants and Refugees” at 7 p.m on October 16 at Birmingham Temple Congregation for Humanistic Judaism.

The public affairs program will address community responses to the unjust and immoral immigration policies of the current administration.

Presenters are Jeffrey L. Falick, a secular humanist rabbi and Melanie Goldberg, an immigration attorney.

The Birmingham Temple Congregation for Humanistic Judaism is located at 28611 W. 12 Mile Road, Farmington Hills, Michigan.

MCHR’s First Art Auction/Fundraiser at Playground Detroit was a Success and a Great Time

MCHR was co-sponsor of an art and fundraising event held in June at Playground Detroit.

According to MCHR Chair Cary McGehee, “The art event was outstanding. A beautiful venue, good turnout and beautiful artwork. Plus, some money was raised for all of the co-sponsors. I hope we do this on a regular basis.”

Many thanks to MCHR Board Member Key Locke, who organized the event, and everyone who attended.

MCHR members can vote at the annual meeting or online if unable to attend.

This human rights-themed show will showcase works from various youth artists from Metro Detroit.

All art displayed will be auctioned to benefit MCHR’s Freedom Tour, Dare 2 Inspire Art Camp and LOV 4H’s community garden.
