Saru Jayaraman
Saru Jayaraman, co-director of the Restaurant Opportunities Center United (ROC United) at UC Berkeley, will give the keynote address at MCHR’s annual dinner on March 18 at Marygrove College in Detroit. Jayaraman started ROC United in the wake of 9/11 to help restaurant workers displaced as a result of the World Trade Center Tragedy.
Abayomi Azikiwe
MCHR board member Abayomi Azikiwe wrote about the celebration of 2018 Martin Luther King Day in Detroit. In his article, Azikiwe addresses Detroit’s historical role in the civil rights movement, Dr. King’s legacy and the many voices who came together at Central United Methodist Church.
