The Michigan Coalition for Human Rights held its 39th annual dinner at Marygrove College on April 14, 2019.

U.S. House Rep. Rashida Tlaib was keynote speaker and she addressed numerous issues, including the many problems with our immigration system and ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement); progress of the House of Representatives oversight of the Trump Administration; and challenges regarding the leadership and future direction of the Democratic Party.

Commenting on the environment in the House of Representatives, Tlaib said she feels “more Palestinian in the halls of Congress than I do anywhere in the country — in the world.”

A record number of tickets were purchased for this year’s annual dinner, making it one of MCHR’s most successful fundraising initiatives ever.
