                Bishop Tom Gumbleton

Bishop Tom Gumbleton, a retired auxiliary bishop of the Detroit archdiocese, is a leading voice for peace, justice, and civil rights in the United States. He is one of the founders of MCHR, founder of Pax Christi USA and Bread for the World. Since becoming a bishop in 1968, he has traveled throughout the world calling for an end to war and the abolition of nuclear weapons. Among the countries he has visited are: Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Vietnam, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Israel, Palestine, Colombia, Haiti, and Peru. Bishop Gumbleton, through a local micro-lending institution, Fonkoze, has been assisting the Haitian people through a health clinic called Kay Lasante.

Bishop Gumbleton

On November 27th 2010, Bishop Gumbleton with Johanna Berrigan returned to Haiti, one year after the devastating earthquake there. They were witnesses to how little has changed since the earthquake. Come and hear about his experience there. Come and gain insight to where the aid money has gone and why there is still not adequate housing, water and sanitation. Come and discuss when the Haitian people can expect an end to violence and corruption and when there will be free, democratic elections. Come and hear about the positive spirit of the people and the signs of hope. Come and learn what you can do to help.

$10 Donations gratefully accepted.
This event is free to all who wish to participate, and donations of any size would be greatly appreciated.
