MCHR & New Detroit Present a Public Forum

Cleaning out the Toxic:
Healing Racial and Ethnic Divisions

How do we understand and overcome those racial and ethnic conflicts made more toxic by demagogic politicians, preachers and the right-wing sensationalizing media? MCHR offers this free public forum as the beginning of a campaign to address race and ethnic baiting and to search for ways to reconcile our differences and heal the divisions.

Just passed MCHR events include MCHR's Spring Filom Series and in early April - BREAK THE SILENCE Word From Within the West Bank and Gaza, and our Annual Dinner featuring Representative Keith Ellison U.S. Congressman - Minnesota's 5th District.

January featured 'A Dialogue on Iran and U.S. Foreign Policy'.

February explored 'SPEAK FOR PEACE TOUR' U.S. Veterans & Iraqis Creating the Way Forward. Casualties, Refugees and Reconstruction in Iraq.

December introduced Keeper of the Fire author Charlie Kernaghan with his talk, a night of Sweat-shop free shopping and a celbration of International Human Rights Day.

In November was author Anna Baltzer, "Life in Occupied Palestine: Eyewitness Stories & Photos", a Jewish American and Fulbright Scholar.

October events included our Fall Film Series, speaker Cecilia Zarate of Colombia Support Network, and Peace Train to Chicago.
